A Little About Us!

Ms. Steets's Biography

This is my 28th year teaching, and my 26th year at Defino! I graduated from Monmouth University, Summa Cum Laude as the highest ranking degree recipent in Education. I  received my Master's Degree from Monmouth University as well. I currently hold certifications in Elementary Education, K-8, Special Education K-12, and School Counseling.  I have experience teaching grades 1,3, and 4.

I am very fortunate to have Mrs. Baker as my co-teacher for ELA again this year (for our Block 1 and Homeroom class). Together, we work collaboratively as a team to make sure that the needs of all our students are met so that they have the best  possible school experience :)

In Marlboro, I have truly loved teaching 3 and 4th grades! They are wonderful years in which the children learn, grow, and become more responsible independent learners!

In my time outside of school, I enjoy traveling to new and exciting places around the world. Learning about cultures, traditions, and the history of other countries is a gift. These experiences carry over and are shared with the children in the classroom, which helps bring learning "alive." In addition, I love spending time with my amazing family, friends, and playing with my little Pomeranian, Tommy.  We love going for walks together, especially down by the beach, which is our special place together!

Thank you for taking the time to learn a little more about me  :) I am looking forward to another successful school year!

Mrs. Baker's Biography

This is my twentieth year teaching and nineteenth in the Marlboro Township School District.  I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Rutgers University and a Special Education Teaching Certification from Georgian Court University.

In my free time, I  enjoy traveling with my husband and two children, reading mystery books, spending time with friends and family, playing with my dog, and swimming in my pool.

It is with great pleasure that I will be teaching fourth grade again this year with Ms. Steets (for ELA and homeroom) and Mrs. Montalbano (Math/Social Studies and Science). Together we will make sure that your child receives the best education possible! :)

Parents: We feel that keeping the line of communication open is very important. We hope to work together as team in order to ensure a positive year for the childrem :)
