Welcome!
Hello and welcome to the school counseling program at Defino Central Elementary School! My name is Mrs. Nicholes and I am so excited to be starting my fifth year here at Defino Central. My goal is to provide an atmosphere for students to feel supported and empowered, and I serve as an advocate for your children in anything they might need in order to find success. At the same time, they will be learning tools to advocate for themselves as they develop and grow. Using individual counseling sessions, small group sessions, and whole group lessons, I will be helping your students navigate through the school year. Please reach out to me at any time with any questions or concerns you may have. I utilize a team approach and am excited to work collaboratively with you in order to make your child's school year productive, educational, and fun!
I grew up in Bucks County, PA and I graduated from the University of Delaware with a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Services. I continued on and received my Master of Science degree in School Counseling from Gwynedd Mercy University. After graduation, I accepted a job as an elementary school counselor in Hillsborough, New Jersey, working in a K-4 building before coming to Marlboro in 2020. The elementary years are so special and full of growth and development every day, and I am grateful for the opportunity to be involved during this special time. I also am an Adjunct Professor to adult learners, teaching graduate level school counseling courses.
On a personal note, I live in Monmouth County with my husband, Tom, and our sons, Jack (4), Theodore (3), and our newest twin arrivals, Thomas and Noah (9 months). We love going to the beach, spending time with our families, and watching sports together.
Please email me at any time at [email protected]. Looking forward to a wonderful year!
