Principal's Message

Dear Defino Families:

Welcome to Defino Central School, a school that has a rich and vibrant history and an equally bright and exciting future.

We pride ourselves on being a community school. The more students and parents feel a part of the community, the more successful we will be. You are encouraged to not only join our wonderful PTO, but to become an active and supportive participant. The PTO enriches and supports the academic and social programs at Defino; one example is the cultural arts program which brings outstanding performers and groups to share their talents and knowledge with students. The PTO is a partner in the truest sense of the word and their efforts add significantly to the programs, offerings, and success of Defino Central School. Together, we will make a difference for our students.

Defino has one single purpose -- to provide a first-rate learning experience for every student in our school. Teachers and staff members are dedicated to this purpose. The Defino faculty is a talented group who continuously look for ways to improve their craft and add to their teaching “toolbox.” We have a committed and amazing group of support employees who make all things possible at Defino and go above and beyond to support our students and staff. I encourage you to communicate with teachers and staff and work together to create a learning environment that supports continuous growth and development in our students.

I am honored to work alongside you to make Defino Central the very best place for our students to learn and grow.  Please feel welcome to reach out to me at any time to share your thoughts, feedback, or concerns.

Sincerely,

Dave Stratuik

Letter to the Community March 17, 2020

Hello Marlboro Community, We officially finished our first virtual day. If you have any problems or concerns, please reach out to your child’s teacher and/or building principal. We will be happy to serve you during this difficult time. Tomorrow, March 18th, will be the last day to enter the buildings to pick up chromebooks and personal items. If you need any items, please reach out immediately to your building leadership and we will accommodate you. The district has enabled Google Hangouts Meet so that teachers have the option of using this application with our students. In order to do so, teachers will be asking for your consent. Please note that students will not be able to initiate a Hangouts Meet with other students. The teacher alone has the ability to initiate a session. On Thursday, we will be remotely working in our district due to the concern for the transmission of COVID-19. We will be forwarding calls that come into our district to the proper staff member. Please know, that as of Thursday, the most efficient mode of communication will be email. We will deliver lunches/snacks this Thursday to eligible students exactly like we delivered today. On Thursday, we will deliver lunches/snacks for Thursday and Friday. For next week (23rd - 27th), we will deliver lunches/snacks on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. You will receive two lunches/snacks next week on Monday and Wednesday and one lunch/snack for Friday. Please know that the Governor’s Executive Order closed schools indefinitely. There is the likelihood that our district may be closed longer than the two weeks I initially explained to the community. Please also know that we are revising our plan day-by-day to meet the needs of our students, staff, and our incredible community. If you know of anyone who needs help, please email me directly, and we will work to meet his/her needs. Please expect regular communication as the situation evolves. Good luck on Day #2. Sincerely, Dr. Eric M. Hibbs Superintendent of Schools
