ESL Family Literacy Nights Program

Literacy is a family affair

  • Family Literacy is a program designed to support a partnership between school and parents/guardians.

  • The program is for ESL students and their families.

  • The importance of parental involvement in children’s education is recognized as an essential feature of the program.

  • Six (6) evening workshops, each focused on a different theme, are scheduled from October through April. The workshops are held from 7:00-8:15 PM in the Robertsville cafeteria. Refreshments are served! While we will try to meet in person this year, due to social distancing, the workshops may need to be conducted remotely at times! It's ok though! We have a great time meeting safely from our own homes!

  • Varied activities designed to strengthen language and literacy skills in a supportive and fun-filled atmosphere will be provided. Reading, crafts, music and lively discussions are just some of the activities included in the workshops.

  • The teachers presenting at Family Literacy Night include 4 ESL teachers, a Gifted and Talented teacher, a 5th Grade teacher, and a math coach.

  • Each student may be allowed to borrow one or two books from our ESL library.  The book must be returned at the next ESL Family Literacy Workshop.
Please read the book at home as a family activity.

Please JOIN US for an evening of family fun and literacy skill activities! We look forward to seeing you there!
